Tesla, Lucid & EV Window Tint and Protection in North Phoenix
Comfort, Safety & Savings
Arizona heat makes your EV spend battery energy keeping you cool, parked or driving. 3M Crystalline window tint keeps that heat out, plus paint protection film, ceramic coating and detailing to protect the rest of your investment.

Comfort
A cooler cabin the moment you open the door, and less glare on every drive. 3M Crystalline blocks up to 99% of heat-producing infrared rays[11].
Safety
Up to 99.9% UV blocked[12], with the Skin Cancer Foundation’s Seal of Recommendation[13]. Less glare means a clearer view of the road.
Savings
Less heat coming in means less battery energy spent on A/C, a protected interior, and less heat stress around your car.
Why Heat Costs EV Owners
A Hot Cabin Costs You Battery
In an EV, the A/C runs on the same high-voltage battery that drives the wheels[3][6]. So every degree of sun-soaked heat in the cabin is energy your battery spends fighting it.
While you’re parked
Tesla’s Cabin Overheat Protection can run the A/C for up to 12 hours after you park whenever the cabin goes over 105°F. Tesla says it uses battery energy and may decrease range[3].
When you get in
Cooling a heat-soaked car is the expensive part. Recurrent reports it may take 3–5 kW to bring a 95° car to a comfortable temperature, and only about 1 kW to keep it there[2].
Battery Health in Arizona
Heat Taxes Your Battery
Batteries don’t like heat. High temperatures speed up the chemical activity that wears lithium-ion cells[7], and the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory notes that high temperatures diminish battery life[5].
Your EV’s pack sits in the floor, right under the seats[8]. Your car works to protect it: an EV uses battery power to keep its battery cool[2].
Window tint doesn’t cool the pack directly. It cuts the sun’s heat coming through the glass, so there’s less heat in the cabin above the battery and less work for your car’s cooling systems. That helps reduce heat stress on your EV, every day you park in the sun.

3M Crystalline for EVs
Keep the Heat Out, Keep the Factory Look
3M Crystalline is the film we recommend for EVs. It’s built to reflect heat rather than soak it up, it stays light enough to keep your car’s clean look, and it’s backed by a 3M limited lifetime warranty for as long as you own your vehicle[14].
Reflects heat
Built to turn back up to 99% of heat-producing infrared rays[11].
Factory look
Rejects more heat than many dark films without changing your EV’s look[11].
Phone key friendly
Non-metal film won’t interfere with phones, GPS or 5G[11]. That matters when your phone is your key[15].
Cooler cabin
3M says Crystalline’s heat rejection helps cool the vehicle by 47°F[11].
An Investment That Pays You Back
Crystalline Can Help Pay for Itself
In a gas car, the A/C runs off the engine. In an EV, cooling comes straight out of the battery you paid to charge[3][6]. Keep less heat from getting in, and your car has less to remove, parked or driving.
Over time, 3M Crystalline can help pay you back in energy saved, plus everyday comfort, skin protection and an interior that stays looking new. The exact savings depend on your car, your shade and how you drive, so we won’t promise a number. Come feel the difference instead.
Feel It at Our Heat DisplayGlass Roof Tint
Tesla Glass Roof and Lucid Glass Canopy Tint
EVs love glass. Tesla says its roof and windows already score under 2 on the UV Index[16], but heat is a different story when a big pane of glass sits right over your head in a North Phoenix parking lot. Lucid Air offers a Glass Canopy that runs from the base of the windshield over the front seats[17].
Some roofs work differently. Rivian’s Dynamic Glass Roof[18] and Porsche’s Variable Light Control roof[19] switch their own tint electronically, so we’ll inspect your roof and recommend what makes sense before any film goes on.

Tesla & EV Tint FAQ
Does window tint improve EV range?
Tint doesn’t change your battery or motor. What it can do is cut the heat coming in through the glass, so your A/C has less work to do. In an EV, the climate system runs on the high-voltage battery, and AAA found that driving at 95°F with the A/C on cut range by 17% on average. No one publishes a range gain for window tint, and it will vary by car, shade and how you drive.
Does a hot cabin drain my EV battery?
It can. The climate control system in an EV is powered by the high-voltage battery. Tesla notes that Cabin Overheat Protection, which runs the A/C when the parked cabin goes over 105°F, uses battery energy and may decrease range. Recurrent reports it can take 3 to 5 kW to cool a 95° car down, and about 1 kW to keep it cool.
Can window tint protect my EV battery?
Tint doesn’t cool your battery pack directly, and we won’t claim it does. Heat is hard on lithium-ion batteries, and EV packs sit under the cabin floor. Keeping the sun’s heat out of the cabin means less heat around your car and less work for its cooling systems, which helps reduce heat stress.
Should I tint my Tesla glass roof?
Tesla says its roof and windows already score under 2 on the UV Index. Heat is a different story, and a big glass roof sits right over your head. Many North Phoenix owners add 3M Crystalline to the roof for a cooler cabin. Roof tint is quoted separately, and we’ll look at your roof before recommending anything.
Does window tint affect a Tesla phone key?
Tesla phone keys use Bluetooth. 3M Crystalline is a non-metal film that 3M says won’t interfere with phones, GPS or 5G, so your phone key keeps working the way it should.
How much does it cost to tint a Tesla in Phoenix?
At Optima, 3M window tint starts at $349 for Color Stable IR, $695 for Ceramic IR and $750 for 3M Crystalline. Sunroof or glass roof tint is quoted separately, and final pricing is confirmed after we inspect your vehicle.
Is window tint legal in Arizona?
Under ARS 28-959.01, front side windows must let through 33% of light (plus or minus 3%) with the film on the glass, with luminous reflectance no more than 35% (plus or minus 3%). Rear side and rear windows can be darker with the same reflectance limit and outside mirrors on both sides. Sunroof or glass roof tint is quoted separately. We’ll help you choose the right shade.
Does Optima work on Lucid and Rivian?
Yes. We install 3M window film and offer paint protection film, ceramic coating and detailing on all makes, including Lucid, Rivian, Tesla, Porsche and other EVs, at our North Phoenix studio.
Should I get PPF or ceramic coating on my EV?
They do different jobs. Paint protection film is a clear physical layer that takes rock chips and scratches on high-impact areas. Ceramic coating adds gloss and makes washing easier. Many owners do PPF on the front end and ceramic coating over the whole car. We’ll recommend a plan for how you drive.
What warranty comes with 3M Crystalline?
3M Crystalline carries a 3M limited lifetime warranty for as long as you own your vehicle. It covers cracking, bubbling, delaminating and color change, including replacement film and reapplication labor if the film is found defective. See the 3M warranty card for details.
